Frequent questions

What is Joint Camp?

Joint Camp is a series of educational opportunities to prepare for joint replacement surgery, information about hospital stay and early discharge planning. Joint Camp is truly a "joint" effort that involves the patient, staff and family. Recovery is faster and more effective with medical, group and family education and support.

When does Joint Camp start?

Joint Camp starts in the physician office when the decision is made for joint replacement surgery.

Joint Camp is a comprehensive patient guide for the patient to follow from the time surgery is scheduled until post surgery. At the physician office the patient is provided a notebook which has frequently asked questions about joint surgery and contacts for assistance. . Phone numbers are also available to schedule preadmission testing and an educational class prior to surgery. This class reviews pre-surgery exercises, describes the hospital experience, and the coordinator is available to answer any questions.

While in the hospital the patient will have nurses, therapists who specialize in the care of joint patients and encourage participation of a family member in the recovery process.
